Verse 2

KJV But I will send a fire upon Moab, and it shall devour the palaces of Kirioth: and Moab shall die with tumult, with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet:

ASV but I will send a fire upon Moab, and it shall devour the palaces of Kerioth; and Moab shall die with tumult, with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet;

Verse 3

KJV And I will cut off the judge from the midst thereof, and will slay all the princes thereof with him, saith the LORD.

ASV and I will cut off the judge from the midst thereof, and will slay all the princes thereof with him, saith Jehovah.

WEB and I will cut off the judge from among them, and will kill all its princes with him,” says Yahweh.

Verse 4

KJV Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Judah, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have despised the law of the LORD, and have not kept his commandments, and their lies caused them to err, after the which their fathers have walked:

ASV Thus saith Jehovah: For three transgressions of Judah, yea, for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have rejected the law of Jehovah, and have not kept his statutes, and their lies have caused them to err, after which their fathers did walk:

WEB Yahweh says: “For three transgressions of Judah, yes, for four, I will not turn away its punishment; because they have rejected Yahweh’s law, and have not kept his statutes, and their lies have led them astray, after which their fathers walked;

Verse 5

KJV But I will send a fire upon Judah, and it shall devour the palaces of Jerusalem.

ASV Thus saith Jehovah: For three transgressions of Israel, yea, for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have sold the righteous for silver, and the needy for a pair of shoes-

WEB Yahweh says: “For three transgressions of Israel, yes, for four, I will not turn away its punishment; because they have sold the righteous for silver, and the needy for a pair of shoes;

KJV That pant after the dust of the earth on the head of the poor, and turn aside the way of the meek: and a man and his father will go in unto the same maid, to profane my holy name:

ASV they that pant after the dust of the earth on the head of the poor, and turn aside the way of the meek: and a man and his father go unto the [same] maiden, to profane my holy name:

WEB They trample on the dust of the earth on the head of the poor, and deny justice to the oppressed; and a man and his father use the same maiden, to profane my holy name;

YLT Who are panting for the dust of the earth on the head of the poor, And the way of the humble they turn aside, And a man and his father go unto the damsel, So as to pollute My holy name.

KJV And they lay themselves down upon clothes laid to pledge by every altar, and they drink the wine of the condemned in the house of their god.

ASV and they lay themselves down beside every altar upon clothes taken in pledge; and in the house of their God they drink the wine of such as have been fined.

WEB and they lay themselves down beside every altar on clothes taken in pledge; and in the house of their God they drink the wine of those who have been fined.

YLT And on pledged garments they stretch themselves near every altar, And the wine of fined ones they drink <FI>in<Fi> the house of their gods.

Verse 9

KJV Yet destroyed I the Amorite before them, whose height was like the height of the cedars, and he was strong as the oaks; yet I destroyed his fruit from above, and his roots from beneath.

KJV And I raised up of your sons for prophets, and of your young men for Nazarites. Is it not even thus, O ye children of Israel? saith the LORD.

ASV And I raised up of your sons for prophets, and of your young men for Nazirites. Is it not even thus, O ye children of Israel? saith Jehovah.

WEB I raised up some of your sons for prophets, and some of your young men for Nazirites. Isn’t this true, you children of Israel?” says Yahweh.

YLT And I raise of your sons for prophets, And of your choice ones for Nazarites, Is not this true, O sons of Israel? An affirmation of Jehovah.

Verse 12

KJV But ye gave the Nazarites wine to drink; and commanded the prophets, saying, Prophesy not.

KJV Therefore the flight shall perish from the swift, and the strong shall not strengthen his force, neither shall the mighty deliver himself:

ASV And flight shall perish from the swift; and the strong shall not strengthen his force; neither shall the mighty deliver himself;

WEB Flight will perish from the swift; and the strong won’t strengthen his force; neither shall the mighty deliver himself;

KJV And he that is courageous among the mighty shall flee away naked in that day, saith the LORD.

WEB and he who is courageous among the mighty will flee away naked on that day,” says Yahweh.

YLT And the courageous of heart among the mighty, Naked doth flee in that day, An affirmation of Jehovah!
