Passage
And the word of Jehovah came unto Jeremiah, saying,
And the word of Jehovah came unto Jeremiah, saying,
Jeremiah 29:28 Forasmuch as he hath sent unto us in Babylon, saying, It will be long; build houses, and dwell [in them], and plant gardens, and eat the fruit of them.
Jeremiah 29:29 And Zephaniah the priest read this letter in the ears of the prophet Jeremiah.
Jeremiah 29:30 And the word of Jehovah came unto Jeremiah, saying,
Jeremiah 29:31 Send to all them of the captivity, saying, Thus saith Jehovah concerning Shemaiah the Nehelamite: Because that Shemaiah hath prophesied unto you, and I sent him not, and he hath caused you to trust in falsehood;
Jeremiah 29:32 therefore thus saith Jehovah: Behold, I will punish Shemaiah the Nehelamite, and his seed: he shall not have a man to dwell among this people; neither shall he see the good that I will do for my people, saith Jehovah; because he hath spoken revolt against Jehovah.
The verse centers on "word", "jehovah", "came", "jeremiah", and "saying". It is saying that the verse draws attention to "word" and "jehovah", so its meaning should be read from those terms before moving to application.
The nearby context moves from verse 29's "And Zephaniah the priest read this letter..." into verse 31's "Send to all them of the captivity...", so "word" and "jehovah" belong inside that flow. In Jeremiah context, the local focus is covenant, worship, and faithfulness.
A plain takeaway is to answer the verse's own emphasis on "word" and "jehovah" with trust shaped by these words, not by a vague optimism outside the passage.
