Chapter Text

15:1 {A Psalm of David.} Jehovah, who shall sojourn in thy tent? who shall dwell in the hill of thy holiness?

15:2 He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth from his heart.

15:3 [He that] slandereth not with his tongue, doeth not evil to his companion, nor taketh up a reproach against his neighbour;

15:4 In whose eyes the depraved person is contemned, and who honoureth them that fear Jehovah; who, if he have sworn to his own hurt, changeth it not;

15:5 [He that] putteth not out his money to usury, nor taketh reward against the innocent. He that doeth these [things] shall never be moved.

Study Lenses

The verse centers on "psalm", "david", "jehovah", "shall", "sojourn", "tent", and "dwell". It is saying that the verse draws attention to "psalm" and "david", so its meaning should be read from those terms before moving to application.

The local DBY text gives this verse as the immediate unit, so "psalm" and "david" carries the first interpretive weight. In The LORD as Shepherd, the local focus is trust, covenant mercy, guidance, and worship.

A plain takeaway is to answer the verse's own emphasis on "psalm" and "david" with trust shaped by these words, not by a vague optimism outside the passage.
