Study Lenses

The verse centers on "grace", "faith", "sylvanus", "faithful", "brother", "think", "written", and "briefly". It is saying that salvation is received as God's gift through faith, so boasting is pushed out by the wording itself.

The nearby context moves from verse 11's "To him be glory and empire for..." into verse 13's "The church that is in Babylon elected...", so "grace" and "faith" belong inside that flow. In 1 Peter context, the local focus is hope in suffering, holy conduct, submission, and grace.

A plain takeaway is to answer the verse's own emphasis on "grace" and "faith" with trust shaped by these words, not by a vague optimism outside the passage.
