Study Lenses

The verse centers on "good works", "gave", "himself", "might", "redeem", "iniquity", and "cleanse". It is saying that the verse draws attention to "good works" and "gave", so its meaning should be read from those terms before moving to application.

The nearby context moves from verse 13's "Looking for the blessed hope and coming..." into verse 15's "These things speak and exhort and rebuke...", so "good works" and "gave" belong inside that flow. In Titus context, the local focus is Christ, faith, and discipleship.

A plain takeaway is to answer the verse's own emphasis on "good works" and "gave" with trust shaped by these words, not by a vague optimism outside the passage.
