Study Lenses

The verse centers on "all things", "surely", "destroy", "land", "saith", and "lord". It is saying that the verse draws attention to "all things" and "surely", so its meaning should be read from those terms before moving to application.

The nearby context moves from verse 1's "The word of the Lord which came..." into verse 3's "I will destroy man and beast I...", so "all things" and "surely" belong inside that flow. In Zephaniah context, the local focus is covenant, worship, and faithfulness.

A plain takeaway is to answer the verse's own emphasis on "all things" and "surely" with trust shaped by these words, not by a vague optimism outside the passage.
