Study Lenses

The verse centers on "lord", "portion", "saith", "soul", "therefore", and "hope". It is saying that the verse draws attention to "lord" and "portion", so its meaning should be read from those terms before moving to application.

The nearby context moves from verse 23's "They are new every morning great is..." into verse 25's "The LORD is good unto them that...", so "lord" and "portion" belong inside that flow. In Lamentations context, the local focus is covenant, worship, and faithfulness.

A plain takeaway is to answer the verse's own emphasis on "lord" and "portion" with trust shaped by these words, not by a vague optimism outside the passage.
