Daniel 3:3 Then the satraps, the prefects and the governors, the counselors, the treasurers, the judges, the magistrates and all the rulers of the provinces were assembled for the dedication of the image that Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up; and they were standing before the image that Nebuchadnezzar had set up.

Daniel 3:5 that at the time you hear the sound of the horn, flute, lyre, trigon, psaltery, bagpipe, and all kinds of music, you are to fall down and worship the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king has set up.

Daniel 3:6 But whoever does not fall down and worship shall immediately be cast into the midst of a furnace of blazing fire.”

Daniel 3:7 Therefore at that time, when all the peoples heard the sound of the horn, flute, lyre, trigon, psaltery, bagpipe, and all kinds of music, all the peoples, nations, and men of every tongue fell down and worshiped the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up.

Study Lenses

The verse centers on "time", "hear", "sound", "horn", "flute", "lyre", "trigon", and "psaltery". It is saying that the verse draws attention to "time" and "hear", so its meaning should be read from those terms before moving to application.

The nearby context moves from verse 4's "Then the herald loudly called out To..." into verse 6's "But whoever does not fall down and...", so "time" and "hear" belong inside that flow. In Daniel context, the local focus is covenant, worship, and faithfulness.

A plain takeaway is to answer the verse's own emphasis on "time" and "hear" with trust shaped by these words, not by a vague optimism outside the passage.
