20:1 For the choir director. A Psalm of David. May Yahweh answer you in the day of distress! May the name of the God of Jacob set you securely on high!

20:2 May He send you help from the sanctuary And uphold you from Zion!

20:3 May He remember all your meal offerings And find your burnt offering acceptable! Selah.

20:5 We will sing for joy over your salvation, And in the name of our God we will set up our banners. May Yahweh fulfill all your petitions.

20:6 Now I know that Yahweh saves His anointed; He will answer him from His holy heaven With the saving might of His right hand.

20:7 Some boast in chariots and some in horses, But we will boast in the name of Yahweh, our God.

20:9 Save, O Yahweh; May the King answer us in the day we call.

The verse centers on "choir", "director", "psalm", "david", "yahweh", "answer", "distress", and "name". It is saying that the verse draws attention to "choir" and "director", so its meaning should be read from those terms before moving to application.

The local LSB text gives this verse as the immediate unit, so "choir" and "director" carries the first interpretive weight. In The LORD as Shepherd, the local focus is trust, covenant mercy, guidance, and worship.

A plain takeaway is to answer the verse's own emphasis on "choir" and "director" with trust shaped by these words, not by a vague optimism outside the passage.
