Study Lenses

The verse centers on "sanctify", "yourselves", "therefore", "holy", and "yahweh". It is saying that the verse draws attention to "sanctify" and "yourselves", so its meaning should be read from those terms before moving to application.

The nearby context moves from verse 6's "The person that turns to those who..." into verse 8's "You shall keep my statutes and do...", so "sanctify" and "yourselves" belong inside that flow. In Leviticus context, the local focus is covenant, worship, and faithfulness.

A plain takeaway is to answer the verse's own emphasis on "sanctify" and "yourselves" with trust shaped by these words, not by a vague optimism outside the passage.
