Study Lenses

The verse centers on "and--they", "confessed", "iniquity", "fathers", "trespass", "trespassed", and "against". It is saying that the verse draws attention to "and--they" and "confessed", so its meaning should be read from those terms before moving to application.

The nearby context moves from verse 39's "And those who are left of you--they..." into verse 41's "also I walk to them in opposition...", so "and--they" and "confessed" belong inside that flow. In Leviticus context, the local focus is covenant, worship, and faithfulness.

A plain takeaway is to answer the verse's own emphasis on "and--they" and "confessed" with trust shaped by these words, not by a vague optimism outside the passage.
