64:1 To him that excelleth. A Psalme of David. Heare my voyce, O God, in my prayer: preserue my life from feare of the enemie.

64:6 They haue sought out iniquities, and haue accomplished that which they sought out, euen euery one his secret thoughtes, and the depth of his heart.

64:7 But God will shoote an arrowe at them suddenly: their strokes shalbe at once.

64:8 They shall cause their owne tongue to fall vpon them: and whosoeuer shall see them, shall flee away.

64:9 And all men shall see it, and declare the worke of God, and they shall vnderstand, what he hath wrought.

The verse centers on "purpose", "iniquities", "excelleth", "psalme", "david", "heare", "voyce", and "prayer". It is saying that the verse draws attention to "purpose" and "iniquities", so its meaning should be read from those terms before moving to application.

The local GNV text gives this verse as the immediate unit, so "purpose" and "iniquities" carries the first interpretive weight. In Psalms context, the local focus is worship, trust, the LORD's kingship, and covenant mercy.

A plain takeaway is to answer the verse's own emphasis on "purpose" and "iniquities" with trust shaped by these words, not by a vague optimism outside the passage.
