Chapter Text
126:1 A Song of Ascents. When Yahweh returned the captive ones of Zion, We were like those who dream.
126:2 Then our mouth was filled with laughter And our tongue with shouts of joy; Then they said among the nations, “Yahweh has done great things for them.”
126:3 Yahweh has done great things for us; We are glad.
126:4 Restore our captivity, O Yahweh, As the streams in the Negev.
126:5 Those who sow in tears shall reap with shouts of joy.
126:6 He who goes to and fro weeping, carrying his bag of seed, Shall indeed come again with a shout of joy, carrying his sheaves with him.

The verse centers on "song", "ascents", "yahweh", "returned", "captive", "ones", "zion", and "like". It is saying that the verse draws attention to "song" and "ascents", so its meaning should be read from those terms before moving to application.
The local LSB text gives this verse as the immediate unit, so "song" and "ascents" carries the first interpretive weight. In Psalms context, the local focus is worship, trust, the LORD's kingship, and covenant mercy.
A plain takeaway is to answer the verse's own emphasis on "song" and "ascents" with trust shaped by these words, not by a vague optimism outside the passage.
