149:1 Praise Yah! Sing to Yahweh a new song, His praise in the assembly of the holy ones.

149:2 Let Israel be glad in his Maker; Let the sons of Zion rejoice in their King.

149:3 Let them praise His name with dancing; With tambourine and lyre let them sing praises to Him.

149:4 For Yahweh takes pleasure in His people; He will beautify the afflicted ones with salvation.

149:5 Let the holy ones exult in glory; Let them sing for joy on their beds.

149:6 Let the exaltations of God be in their throats, And a two‑edged sword in their hand,

149:7 To execute vengeance on the nations And punishments on the peoples,

149:8 To bind their kings with chains And their honored men with fetters of iron,

149:9 To execute on them the judgment written; This is the majesty of all His holy ones. Praise Yah!

The verse centers on "praise", "sing", "yahweh", "song", "assembly", "holy", and "ones". It is saying that the verse draws attention to "praise" and "sing", so its meaning should be read from those terms before moving to application.

The local LSB text gives this verse as the immediate unit, so "praise" and "sing" carries the first interpretive weight. In Psalms context, the local focus is worship, trust, the LORD's kingship, and covenant mercy.

A plain takeaway is to answer the verse's own emphasis on "praise" and "sing" with trust shaped by these words, not by a vague optimism outside the passage.
