Chapter Text

12:1 In that day you will say, “I will give thanks to you, Yahweh; for though you were angry with me, your anger has turned away and you comfort me.

12:3 Therefore with joy you will draw water out of the wells of salvation.

12:4 In that day you will say, “Give thanks to Yahweh! Call on his name. Declare his doings among the peoples. Proclaim that his name is exalted!

12:5 Sing to Yahweh, for he has done excellent things! Let this be known in all the earth!

12:6 Cry aloud and shout, you inhabitant of Zion; for the Holy One of Israel is great among you!”

The verse centers on "give", "thanks", "yahweh", "though", "angry", "anger", "turned", and "away". It is saying that the verse draws attention to "give" and "thanks", so its meaning should be read from those terms before moving to application.

The local WEB text gives this verse as the immediate unit, so "give" and "thanks" carries the first interpretive weight. In The Suffering Servant Bears Iniquity, the local focus is the servant of the LORD, atonement, and judgment and restoration.

A plain takeaway is to answer the verse's own emphasis on "give" and "thanks" with trust shaped by these words, not by a vague optimism outside the passage.
